‘Vlad’- A New Spin on ‘Dracula’

While this year launched a literary sequel to Bram Stoker classic’s Dracula, Hollywood is aiming for a prequel.

Summit Entertainment, best known for the Twilight movies, has teamed up with Brad Pitt to produce Vlad, a film that covers the real-life Prince of Wallachia, Vlad Dracula the Impaler (pictured on the left).

It has been implied that the film will follow Vlad’s path from historical prince to legendary vampire lord, much like the opening of Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

The script is by Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam and the movie will be directed by music video director Anthony Mandler.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Summit Entertainment wants Vlad to be a “visually edgy and radical period movie that also will break a new talent.”
