Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Seth Grahame-Smith’s horror spoof on the Jane Austen classic, is developing into a feature film, with Natalie Portman set to star as Elizabeth Bennet, who, in the new story, has to combat zombies on top of her feelings for Mr. Darcy.  The character was last played by Keira Knightley in Joe Wright’s adaptation of the Austen novel.

Producer Annette Savitch commented, “Natalie and I are longtime passionate fans of Jane Austen’s books and this a fresh, fun and thought-provoking way to approach her work. The idea of zombies running rampant in 19th Century England may sound odd, but it lends a modern sense of urgency to a well known love story.”
