IFC films has purchased the rights to ‘Mutants’, a French horror film that’s been described as a “gory crossbreed of ‘28 Days Later’ and ‘Dawn of the Dead’”. Like most gore-fests to come out of France, this one looks incredibly visceral. What’s more, it will follow the suit of similar mature IFC releases and be shown on Video On Demand during it’s small theatrical. This has been a rather successful strategy for IFC in recent months, boasting the popularity of films like Lars Von Trier’s “Antichrist”, which almost certainly would have flown underneath the radar if it could only be seen in a handful of indie movie houses.
